Accessibility Task Force
Deaf Ministry ~ ALS interpreters for worship at 10:55 - and for 9:45 a.m. Sunday School for children & adults by request. Jeriann Skinner staff contact 243-7834. Hearing enhancement devices are also available in Classic worship services.
Visual Impairment ~ All facility signs are duplicated in Braille, and our weekly bulletins and monthly newsletter are produced in enlarged, sight-saving print developed by the American Printing House for the Blind.
Van Drivers ~ First and Third Sundays of the month, the church van picks up persons who cannot drive and brings them to worship. Call 243-7834 for reservations. Second and Fourth Sundays, the van brings our Saranam families to worship.
Homebound Ministries
Holy Communion ~ is taken to our homebound members by volunteers four times each year on the Sundays where Communion is served in services during Classic worship. Volunteers include teens through senior adults. Coordinator: Carolyn Crawford
Heart for the Homebound ~ invites volunteers to keep in touch with homebound members through personal visits, phone calls and cards. Coordinator: Norma Thornbrough
Flower Ministry ~ organizes delivery of flowering plants to homebound members by volunteers at Easter and Christmas. Coordinator: Gayle Denslow
Congregational Care
Birthday Cards for Kids covers all children and youth of the congregation. Members make or purchase cards and several volunteers write a personal note of celebration "From your Church Family." They address and mail approximately 24 cards per month. Coordinator: Edith Boetcher
The Blessing of the Animals will take place on September 30 on our south lawn. Persons in the congregation and community are invited to bring their pet or animal friend (on a leash or in a cage) for a time of worship, thanksgiving and blessings. It is a joyous occasion to celebrate God's gifts of creation.
The Christmas and Caring Service is a worship experience that is held on the Winter Solstice (December 21). It's purpose is to provide a ministry to people who have suffered loss of a loved one, a job, or who otherwise find it difficult to find joy during the Christmas season. The service encourages participants to see God's love even in the midst of grief.
Prayer and Spiritual Formation
Emmons Upper Room Prayer Group~ is a global ministry dedicated to support the spiritual formation of Christians seeking to know and experience God more fully. Dr. Emmons, the first editor of the Upper Room Daily Devotional Guide was a member of CUMC. The group meets every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. to pray for CUMC's needs and requests from the Upper Room Living Prayer Center.
Upper Room Daily Devotional Guides ~ are available (in regular and large-print editions) for purchase in the church office.
Walk to Emmaus/Chrysalis Weekend and Reunion Groups ~ sponsored by Upper Room Ministries, provides adults and teens a weekend experience that calls them into Christian discipleship and provides ongoing support for a life of faith. For additional information see the Emmaus page.
