ONE, is testimony, story, history, her-story and lived experiences of our neighbors at Central United Methodist Church,
Sycamore neighborhood, greater Albuquerque, the state of New Mexico and amazing diverse people of the world.

Speaker: Lily Spurgeon

Theme: We will first look at the history of the state of New Mexico, still affecting New Mexicans today, from our guest speaker, Lily Spurgeon. In the coming weeks, we will look specifically at our city and what makes it so unique, leading to listening to stories from our many neighbors in our community.

Theme: Human trafficking in New Mexico, providing facts on what is really going on and dispelling misinformation that gets spread through social media. Learning about human trafficking is a heavy topic. Recognizing signs of Human Trafficking and raising awareness can help prevent human trafficking and build support for the most vulnerable in our city.

Theme: The common thread I continually see in basic needs, whether housing or food, clothing, or, most of all, safety, is that when we work toward restoring these for people, we are restoring the core dignity of all people to have access to basic needs.

Theme: We live in a country where the rates of diagnosis for Autism and ADHD are increasing year over year. Our educational systems often struggle to serve neurodiverse populations in the midst of all they are required to do. What can help students to find success educationally?
Jim Hering will talk about his experience as a teacher and principal over the last 17 years at Pathways Academy, a non-profit, private school in Albuquerque for students with a variety of special needs.
